Bellatrix releases her new single “Wish I Could”, the follow up to “Your Blood Only”, released in January.
Bellatrix is a fresh, forward-thinking and socially-conscious new artist, who hails from Bristol but Is now London-based. She is making thoroughly modern, leftfield pop music. “Wish I Could” sees Bellatrix’s distinctive vocals married to twisting, hook-laden melodies, with brilliant production from our up-and-coming producers Exmoor Emperor.
Of the “Wish I Could” Bellatrix says:
“I was actually feeling really bleak when I wrote Wish I Could. It came from a place of feeling helpless in the face of humanity doing itself over so grossly. Sadness quickly turned to rage. For me, anger always gives birth to a passion to take action, and although Wish I Could isn’t particularly a happy song it’s got a positive vibe to it. That’s the driving force and realisation that we’re not actually helpless at all, if we are prepared to make a stand.”
Bellatrix musical talents have been honed with a diverse group of artists. As a supremely gifted bassist she studied jazz at the hugely prestigious Guildhall School Of Music. From there she performed with an incredible array of artists, from Jarvis Cocker to Tinie Tempah, The Pharcyde to Imogen Heap, Pee Wee Ellis to Chris Wood.
Additionally, Bellatrix has found time to give something back. She has been involved in several educational projects, including a musical project with The Roundhouse for young people in the Dharavi slum in Mumbai, and curated a show at the Barbican for kids from ten London schools.
Bellatrix will be playing a headline show at London’s Electrowerkz on 21st June. Featuring her six-piece band, Bellatrix’s live show (designed by Exmoor Emperor) is something to behold, an immersive experience for the audience and something not to be missed.
